Education

I have always been passionate about everything digital, due to this, I have gone beyond my simple education at my College/Uni, taking part in other activities and helping peers.

Manchester Metropolitan University

Computing Society: Committee Member

I am in charge of the Twitter (@MMUCompSoc), local event management, photography/videography for events we run, as well as do attending meetings and have worked with the marketing department before, then I talk to many people in the industry.

Photography Society: Committee Member

Photography Society Tameside Trip

I fill various roles in this society, where I have spawned the idea of set tasks each week, as well as do help plan photo walks and find ones not hosted by us (image above being one I took when we went to Tameside) - Flickr Album

Photoshop Tutorial

As part of the Computing Society, I held a tutorial about Photoshop, begining with the basics, including shortcuts and a few practical applications.

ICT Assistance

Apart from assisting my peers often, the ICT department have hosted a few events throughout the time I studied there, below are a couple I have helped out with.

Girls in ICT

Girls in ICT

Girls in ICT is a campaign to increase the amount of interest of ICT industry to women, since there is currently inequality in the ratio of genders in the computing field. To solve this a day was set up in awareness and to promote the field specifically to woman, which my College participated in where I helped where I could. Which included helping carrying, setting up stuff, speaking to female students about different aspects of ICT, carrying stuff back and other such tasks.

ICT Sampling

ICT Sampling

At the end of my course, just before finishing my last task (which would have been complete sooner, if it weren't for the complication that the ICT floor was out of bounds due to the fire on that floor a few weeks before), with a D*D*D* grade, possible next year students came in for a taster in courses. Due to this I filled the role of setting up all the computers, resetting them for the next group, and ensuring that the students understood the practical.

Assignment Blog

Assignment Blog

Due to the amount of knowledge and work I put into the Computer Animation unit (10k+ words and Animations), I thought I'd share it for fellow students aid.

Projects

Whiles completing tasks/assigemnts for my course work, I was also presented with projects, some being for external competition (not being hosted by the College), in groups and not so (which I chose for one), then self set projects.

Apps for Good: the Happy App

Happy App

Me and Nathan Emmison went through the process to create an app, from idea generation, concepts, making a prototype and then presented our idea for Apps for Good.

Animation 15

Animation 15

I was tasked to do a one minute animation "inspired by material from the taught curriculum". Just two weeks before the contest closed I decided to learn how to use Adobe Flash (for my Unit 31: Computer Animation) and submit a project for the contest.

Visual Basic Projects

Visual Basic Word Chain Game

An Anime called No Game No Life inspired me to create a version of "Word Chain" in Visual Basic (since I had been learning more VB). This introduced me to a variety of concepts that I have been taught in my first year of Univeristy with Java (loops, methods, varible passing, arrays, array lists, switch/select case and many more)

Awards

Whiles completing tasks/assigemnts for my course work, I was also presented with projects, some being for external competition (not being hosted by the College), in groups and not so (which I chose for one), then self set projects.

Programming Interface Design

Programming Interface Design Trophy

At Pendleton we are taught Visual Basic (which I have advanced in more recently), and each year there is a competition, to create the best design for a set programming criteria, which I won in 2014 amongst all the students in the ICT department.
